The Emory University women's tennis team advanced to its 14th consecutive NCAA Quarterfinals Sunday afternoon, taking care of business against Sewanee in the regional final Sunday afternoon at the Woodruff PE Center in Atlanta.

The Eagles were 5-0 winners for the second straight match and advance to the round of eight which will be played at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, FL, beginning Monday, May 23rd. Emory will match up against Wesleyan in the quarterfinals, marking the third straight postseason the two teams have met. The teams last met back on April 16th when the Cardinals bested the Eagles on their home courts.

Sunday afternoon featured more strong doubles play from the Eagles as Emory swept the doubles portion with all three courts being tightly contested. Freshman Eliza McPherron and senior Lauren Yoon led off the match with their 8-6 win on court three before senior Christina Watson and sophomore Ana Cristina Perez posted the 8-5 win on the one-line. The final doubles point came down to a tiebreak with senior Emma Cartledge and junior Alexa Goetz securing the 8-7 (4) victory.

For singles, Cartledge and Perez paved the way for the clinching points with Cartledge winning first on court 6-1, 6-3 followed by Perez who won on five 6-3, 6-1. At the conclusion, Emory was in front on two of the four remaining courts with junior Stephanie Shulman leading at fourth singles 6-3, 4-2 and Goetz in front 6-2, 3-4 on six.
