Emory Track & Field Competes at UGA's Torrin Lawrence Memorial

The Emory University Track and Field teams began the home stretch of the outdoor season Saturday afternoon, sending several members of the team to compete against some of the top athletes in the South at the University of Georgia’s Torrin Lawrence Memorial in Athens.

Senior Mia Eisenhandler and junior Charlie Hu led the Eagles in individual performances at the meet as both performers set new personal-records in their respective events. Eisenhandler bested her previous top time in the 3000m Steeplechase, turning in a time of 11:16.52. Her mark now stands as the sixth fastest time by an individual in program history. In the triple jump, Hu shattered his previous top mark, posting a distance of 14.29m to move into fifth place on the Emory all-time list.

The women’s 4x400m relay team of junior Erica Goldman, sophomores Dilys Osei, Ariana Newhouse and freshman Kaitlyn Leonard also impressed at the meet, registering a season-best time of 3:49.27. With their time, the group moves into seventh place in school history.

Also in action on Saturday was sophomore Dani Bland in both the 100m (11.88) and 200m (24.44) Dashes, junior Grant Muprhy (4:10.90) and freshman Ileana Zeissner (5:07.69) in the 1500m Run and junior Robert Wilhelm III (1:58.00) and sophomore Radhika Shah (2:23.38) in the 800m Run.

The Eagles return to competition this Thursday and Friday, May 11th and 12th, with the Dr. Keeler Invitational on the campus of North Central College in Naperville, IL.
