Rebekah Bondi Qualifies for 100m Finals on Day Two of NCAA Championships

The 2021 NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships continued Friday afternoon with Brett Henshey and Rebekah Bondi representing Emory University in Greensboro, NC.

Henshey was the first in action on the afternoon as he was one of 17 competitors in the high jump event. Henshey cleared 1.92m on his first attempt, moving on to the next round. However, he could not clear the bar in three tries in the following round set at 1.97m, ending his quest to reach the podium as he finished tied for 13th.

Bondi then took to the track to compete among 18 other qualifiers in the preliminaries of the 100m dash. Bondi, who earned All-America honors Thursday evening in the long jump, turned in a career-best effort in heat two, clocking in with a personal-best time of 11.95. Her time was the third fastest in the heat and seventh-fastest in prelims as she advanced to the finals for the first time in her career.

Saturday marks the third and final day of the outdoor championships as the Eagles will compete in three different events to close out the meet. Bondi will begin the afternoon with the 100m finals at 1:30 PM followed by Annika Urban and Jack Whetstone in the 5000m run which will take place at 3:00 PM (women) and 3:25 PM (men).
