Track & Field Sweeps UAA Athlete of the Week Awards

Emory University track and field swept this week’s University Athletic Association Athlete of the Week awards as announced Monday afternoon. Rebekah Bondi and Annika Urban earned the weekly honors for the women with Spencer Moore and JonCarlo Migaly collecting the weekly awards for the men.

This marks the third weekly honor for Bondi this season and the second for Urban while this is the first career weekly honor for both Moore and Migaly.

Bondi broke the Emory school record in the long jump Friday afternoon with her 5.81m mark at the UGA Torrin Lawrence Memorial. Her mark was the top performance turned in by a Division III athlete so far this season in the event. Bondi competed in a pair of relays on Saturday as well for the Eagles, helping the 4x100 to a time of 47.82 and the 4x400 clock in a time of 3:58.16, the first sub 4-minute time for the Eagles this season and the 24th fastest ran by a DIII team in 2021.

Urban topped her own school record in the 5000m Run on Saturday, shaving almost 11 seconds off her time as she placed third at the Memorial at 17:03.81. Her time now stands as the 11th fastest so far among Division III qualifiers this season.

Moore recorded a personal best time in the 3000m Steeplechase on Saturday, running a time of 9:17.26 at UGA. His time was the fourth fastest in team history in the event and ranks as the seventh fastest in Division III so far this season.

Migaly registered a pair of personal best times and helped the 4x100m team to a season best performance this past weekend. In the long jump, Migaly netted a mark of 7.11m which places him 15th among DIII qualifiers this season and was the 8th best mark in school history. On the track, he became the first Eagle to post a sub 11-second time in the 100m Dash, clocking in at 10.95. Migaly also ran the lead off leg of the 4x100, leading the team to a season best time of 42.21 which ranks as the 38th fastest time in the country.

The Eagles travel to Life University this Friday afternoon for the first of two last chance qualifier meets to end the regular season.
