Rebekah Bondi Sets Long Jump Record at Torrin Lawrence Memorial

The Emory University track & field teams returned to action Friday afternoon with day one of the Torrin Lawrence Memorial hosted by the University of Georgia in Athens.

Rebekah Bondi headlined the Eagle performers on the first day of competition as she established a new school record in the long jump event. Bondi posted a mark of 5.81m, eclipsing her previous personal best of 5.56m and topping the prior school record of 5.79m set by Jordan Beall during the 2009 season.

The women’s side added a trio of season-best team times over the course of the afternoon with Lauren Cunild running a 2:15.70 in the 800m Run, Jessica Barbarosh clocking in at 25.36 in the 200m Run and Claire Evans turning in a 1:05.92 in the 400m Hurdles.

For the men’s team, JonCarlo Migaly recorded a new personal best in long jump with his mark of 7.11m. It was the best by an Eagle so far this season and the eighth-best mark in team history.

Other top performers for the Emory men on Friday included Kenya Sei in the hammer (49.23m), Scott Masterson in the 800m Run (1:54.31) and Thomas Davis in the 200m Run (22.30).

The meet continues on Saturday and can be followed along with live results posted here: https://pttiming.com/event.php?mid=62&pt=schedule.
