Emory Volleyball Advances to Regional Final with Win Over Christopher Newport

The No.-7 ranked Emory University Volleyball program advanced to its eighth-straight regional final on Friday night, defeating the 21st-ranked Christopher Newport University Captains at the Woodruff PE Center in Atlanta.

The Eagles posted their second consecutive win via straight set, besting CNU 25-16, 25-22, 25-13. With the win, Emory upped its season record to 29-6 while the Captains closed out their campaign at 28-4.

Emory is set to take on Berry College Saturday night in the regional championship match, beginning at 7:00 PM at the WoodPEC. It will mark the third meeting of the year between the two programs with the teams splitting the previous two matches, both by 3-0 decisions.

Junior Karissa Dzurik led the Eagles in kills for the second consecutive night, totaling 10 on a .350 hitting percentage (10-3-20). Sophomore Sara Carr and freshman Leah Saunders both chalked up nine kills with sophomore Morgan McKnight adding eight to the Emory attack. The Eagles as a team finished with a .313 hitting percentage.

Carr tallied 12 digs to top both squads with sophomore Elyse Thompson collecting 10. Junior Mady Arles handed out 21 assists for a game-high total. Sophomore Savannah Bush finished five blocks.

Katie Piper paced Christopher Newport with 10 terminations with Ashley Burgess recording 16 assists. Katie Crofford posted nine digs.
