Emory Volleyball Falls To Carnegie Mellon In UAA Round Robin I Finale

The Emory volleyball team closed out its opening weekend of conference play on Sunday with a loss to Carnegie Mellon at the University Athletic Association Round Robin I on the campus of Brandeis University.  The Tartans raised their overall record to 14-5 (3-0 UAA) following a 3-1 (25-20, 25-20, 22-25, 25-21) decision over the Eagles who slipped to 10-4 (2-1 UAA).

CMU hit .245 (58-24—139) in the contest vs. Emory's mark of .199 (45-18—136), and finished with a 64-49 edge in digs. The Eagles did hold a 9-3 advantage in total blocks.  Junior Morgan McKnight led the Emory offensive attack with 11 kills, her seventh double-figure performance of the season, and hit .310 (11-2—29).  Senior Karissa Dzurik was the other Eagle to finish with double-digit terminations with 10. Senior Sydney Leimbach and sophomore Leah Saunders each chalked up eight kills with Leimbach pacing all players with four (2-2) total blocks.  Junior Maureen Schick produced a team-leading 15 digs while senior Mady Arles dished out 36 assists to go along with three service aces.

Emory returns to action on Wednesday, October 3, when it plays at Lee University.
