Emory Volleyball Posts Win At Lee University

The Emory volleyball team opened a busy stretch of action with a Wednesday evening win on the road against Lee University.  The Eagles raised their record to 11-4 following a 3-1 (25-20, 25-17, 15-25, 25-21) triumph over the Flames who slipped to 8-10.

Emory ended up the night with an edge in hitting percentage, registering a mark of .255 (55-18—145) vs. Lee's effort of .204 (52-20—157).  The Eagles enjoyed a well-balanced attack with four players totaling double-figure kills, led by sophomore Leah Saunders 12 terminations, her fifth performance with 10 or more this season.  Sophomore Maggie Rimmel came through with a career-best 10 kills and came through with a solid attack percentage of .471 (10-2—17).  Seniors Sydney Leimbach and Karissa Dzurik also posted 10 successful attack attempts with Leimbach adding three blocks.

Senior Elyse Thompson and Saunders contributed 22 and 20 digs, respectively, helping Emory to a 72-67 advantage in that category, while senior Mady Arles dished out 42 assists, her sixth match of 40 or more this year.

Emory returns to action on Sunday (Oct. 7) when it ventures to Oglethorpe for matches against Sewanee (3:30 pm) and the host Stormy Petrels at 6:00 pm.
