Emory University senior Karissa Dzurik (Columbia, PA) and sophomore Finn Wilkins (Scottsdale, AZ) have been named Volleyball Players of the Week by the University Athletic Association after the pair helped the Eagles to a first-place effort at the conference championships.  It is the second time this season and third her career that Dzurik has been honored by the conference and the second for Wilkins.

The 5-foot-11 Dzurik was tabbed as the Offensive Player of the Week after playing all nine of the team's sets and topping all players with a 4.56 kills-per-game average. She produced match highs in kills in all three matches and closed out the weekend with a solid .294 attack percentage (41-11--102).  After totaling 12 terminations in a sweep of Brandeis in the quarterfinals, Karissa pounded out 15 successful attack attempts, hitting .314 (15-4--35) in the process, while also chipping in two block assists, in a semifinal victory over Carnegie Mellon. In the title showdown against No. 10-ranked Chicago, Dzurik hit a match-high .371 on the strength of 14 kills with just one error in 35 attempts, while also contributing three block assists.  So far this season Dzurik, who owns 21 matches of double-figure kills, ranks sixth among UAA players in kills average (3.22 kps).

The 6-foot-2 Wilkins was selected Co-Defensive Player of the Week after pacing all players at the Championships with a 1.67 blocks-per-set average, helping the Eagles limit the opposition to a .152 hitting percentage over three matches.  Wilkins led the club in total blocks in all three contests, starting with three blocks assists in a sweep of Brandeis in the quarterfinals. She followed that performance with a match-leading five total blocks (0-5), while chipping in a pair of service aces, in a 3-0 outcome over Carnegie Mellon in the semifinals. In the championship encounter against No. 10 Chicago, Wilkins helped Emory to a 12-1 bulge in blocks by producing a match-high seven (1-6), her 12th outing of three or more blocks this season.  So far this year, Finn leads the team and is third among UAA players in blocks average (1.07 bps).

Emory, 24-6 on the year, travels to the campus of Berry College where it will compete in the NCAA D-III Rome, Georgia, Regional starting with a Friday (Nov. 9) match vs. Meredith College.
