Senior Elyse Thompson helped the No. 1-ranked Emory volleyball team to an important South Region victory over Birmingham Southern.

In a 3-1 verdict over the Panthers, the 5-foot-7 Thompson totaled a match-high 28 digs from her libero post, with that mark leading all players and representing her fifth match of the campaign with 20 or more digs. Thompson's solid defensive play helped Emory limit BSC to a hitting mark of just .091.

So far this year, Elyse leads the squad and stands fifth among UAA performers with an average of 4.42 digs per set.
