Maureen Schick Selected To CoSIDA Academic All-District Team

Emory University senior Maureen Schick (Hobart, WI) has been named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Team for volleyball as announced by the organization earlier in the week.

The CoSIDA Academic All-District team recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution.

The 5-foot-7 Schick has provided outstanding defensive play for the No. 1-ranked Eagles who stand 30-2 following their 3-0 win over Notre Dame University of Maryland in the opening round of the NCAA Atlanta Regional. She has played in 103 of the squad's 115 sets and is averaging 1.76 digs per game, helping limit opponents to just a .140 hitting percentage.  She has totaled three contests with 10 or more digs including a season-high 20 vs. Cal Lutheran.  Now in her second season in the program after transferring from Kansas State, she has logged a total of 167 sets of action over the course of 53 matches.

Shick landed a berth on the Academic All-District Team with a 4.00 grade-point average as a Nursing major.  Earlier this fall, she was named to the UAA All-Academic Team.

Schick will now be placed on the national ballot for the CoSIDA Academic All-America Teams. The Academic All-America teams for volleyball will be announced on Wednesday, December 11th.
