Volleyball Assistant Coach Brianna Jones Resigns -- Will Take Over Head Coaching Duties at Stevens

Emory volleyball assistant coach Brianna Jones has resigned from her position.  Jones will assume the head coaching duties at Stevens Institute of Technology in New Jersey.

Jones joined the Emory staff in 2017 and in that time helped the program compile an overall record of 94-16, which included a 2018 NCAA D-III Championship, a runner-up berth in the 2019 national tourney and two University Athletic Association titles.

Jones mentored seven different players to first- or second-team All-America berths and nine performers to 13 sports on the All-UAA First or Second Team.  Jones also oversaw the the devolpment of three players who garnered the league's Rookie of the Year Award.

"During her time here, Brianna has played an integral part in our program's success," said Head Coach Jenny McDowell.  "Her ability to mentor, inspire and coach young women makes her the perfect choice to lead the Stevens program.  We are certainly going to miss her but we know she is ready to lead her own program.  Bri is an outstanding coach and I can say that Stevens has hit the jackpot!"

Jones came to Emory after spending the 2016 season as a graduate assistant coach at NCAA Division II member Columbus State University.  Prior to joining the CSU program, Jones played collegiately for Georgia State during the 2014 and 2015 campaigns.  While at GSU, she was recognized as a member of the Athletic Director's Honor Roll on two occasions.  She began her collegiate playing career with a two-year (2012 & 2013) stint at Pfeiffer University.

"I want to thank Jenny McDowell on taking a gamble on the young former volleyball player who grew up in the Emory Volleyball camp gym and turning her into Coach," stated Jones.  "My time at Emory was not only one of the most enriching experiences but also humbling. The things I learned from Jenny and the players have helped shape me into who I am today. I am fortunate and grateful that Emory was my first full-time coaching position. There are countless memories and relationships that will last a lifetime.  Emory will always have a special place in my heart."
