Emory Volleyball NCAA Tournament Run Ends in Regional Final

The Emory University volleyball team lost a grueling three-set match to Berry College in the NCAA regional final to put an end to an outstanding season from the Eagles. The Vikings advanced to the NCAA DIII Championships with their 25-19, 25-13, 28-26 victory over Emory University Saturday night in front of a packed Woodruff PE Center crowd in Atlanta, GA.

The Vikings reach their first-ever NCAA DIII Quarterfinals in program history and will sport a 28-2 record when the NCAA Championships continue Thursday in St. Louis, MO. The Eagles conclude their season with a 25-6 overall record, advancing to the program's 11th consecutive regional final.

Emory had a great tournament overall naming two players to the Atlanta, Georgia Regional All-Tournament Team: Senior Tara Martin and Junior Cassie Srb. For the tournament, Martin finished with 37 kills and a hitting percentage of .280 with Srb posting a strong tournament in her own right finishing with a combined 116 assists and 25 digs.

For the match Saturday night, sophomore Carly Wallace had a career match with 10 kills, two service aces, six digs and a .400 hitting percentage. Freshman Deborah Hong led the team with 13 digs while Srb contributed a team-high 30 assists to go along with four blocks.

For the Vikings, junior Peyton Breissinger had one of the better individual performance of the regional, contributing 16 kills and no errors for a hitting percentage of .696. AVCA Regional Player of the Year Laura Beier pitched in 20 digs and two service aces while teammate Molly Bergin had 10 kills to go along with nine digs.

Along with Martin and Srb, Berry's Beier, Bergin and Jazzy Innis were named to the All-Tournament Team as well as Southwestern's Emma White and UT-Dallas' Allison Owen.
