Emory Volleyball Bounces Back with Tuesday Night Sweep at Lee

The No. 6 ranked Emory University volleyball team bounced back Tuesday night, defeating Division II's Lee University in straight sets in Cleveland, TN.

The Eagles now stand 8-3 following their sixth straight sets win of the year while the Lady Flames drop their ninth consecutive match to fall to 2-14 on the season.

Junior Carly Wallace paced both squads on the evening, totaling a game-high 12 kills and was one of four Eagles with seven kills or more. Sophomore Sarah Luong notched 21 assists while sophomore Deborah Hong and senior Lauren Bandera combined for 23 digs. Freshman Eliane Silberman was a force at the net, recording five blocks in her first career start.

The Eagles opened the night with the game's first three points en route to winning the first set in wire-to-wire fashion, 25-20. The second set was more competitive in nature with back-and-forth play. The score was tied at 20 prior to kills by Wallace and freshman Kaya Monrose that swung the momentum back in Emory's favor, helping the Eagles claim five of the final seven points in the set. Emory put the clamp down in the third set with more dominating play, leading for the majority of the set and holding a lead as many as 10 points at 23-13.

The Eagles will host Maryville College Friday at 5:00 PM at the WoodPEC before traveling to Pittsburgh, PA for the second UAA Round Robin on Sunday against No. 5 WashU and host Carnegie Mellon.
