Emory Volleyball Headed to Transylvania for NCAA Regionals; Draws Bethany in First Round

It was announced on Monday afternoon that the Emory University volleyball team will travel to Lexington, KY to play in the NCAA Regional Tournament hosted by Transylvania University. The Eagles earned an automatic bid into the tournament by virtue of winning the UAA Championship over WashU on Saturday.

The No. 6 ranked Eagles (21-6), who come in as the top ranked team in the region, will take on the Bethany (WV) Bison (17-12) in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Thursday, November 10th at 12:30pm. The Bisons earned an automatic bid into the tournament as a result of their PAC Championship victory. This meeting between the Eagles and the Bisons marks the first time the two will play in their programs' respective histories.

Host and No. 18 ranked Transylvania (25-5) is matched up with Randolph-Macon (23-6) with the winner of that match set to play the winner of the Eagles and Bison contest in the second round on Friday. The only other ranked team in the region is No. 10 Berry (23-4) who plays Covenant (21-11) in the first round. The final first round matchup of the regional is between fellow-UAA member Carnegie Mellon (20-8) and Southern Virginia (27-7). The regional finals will be played on Saturday with the winner getting the opportunity to travel to Pittsburgh to play in the NCAA DIII Championships.
