Junior Gabrielle Stravach helped the No. 21-ranked Emory women's cross country team to a first-place finish in the team's opening meet of the year.
Stravach crossed the finish line in first place out of 74 runners at the Berry College Watermelon Race, covering the 6K course in a time of 23:24. Her effort spearheaded a strong Eagles' effort that saw them claim eight of the top 10 overall finishers.
Emory topped the six-team field with 20 points while host Berry College claimed runner-up honors with 47 points.
