Emory Cross Country Travels to UTC Twilight Meet

The Emory men's and women's cross country teams continue their seasons on Friday (Sep. 13) when they send representatives to East Ridge, Tennessee, to compete at the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga Twilight Cross Country Meet.  The women's 4K is slated for a 6:30 pm (EDT) start,   followed by the men's 7K at 7:00 pm.  The event will be held just east of downtown Chattanooga at Camp Jordan.

Head Coach Linh Nguyen's No. 24-ranked women's team will be one of 12 teams toeing the line tomorrow. The field will be composed of D-I, D-II, D-III, and NAIA programs, including In-state rivals Georgia State, West Georgia, and Dalton State.  Lee University, a D-II school, is the only team other than Emory entering the race ranked within its respective division.

On the men's side, No. 29-ranked Emory goes up against ten teams.  Division I squads taking part include host UTC, Tennessee State, and Alabama State.  Lee University's, ranked No. 16 in the D-II ranks, is part of the field and will prove to be a tough foe.

Both Emory teams last laced up for a race on Aug. 30 at the Jacksonville State University Strut's Opener, where Jack Whetstone produced a 1st-place finish and three other Eagles placed in the top 10, allowing the Emory men to take the meet title.  On the women's side, Bella Racette was the top finisher in Alabama, recording a 4K effort 15:15 which helped her team land fourth out of 14 teams.
