Emory Cross Country Teams Primed For Berry Invitational

The Emory men's and women's cross country teams are faced with the possibility of a muddy trek around the Clara Bowl tomorrow morning (Oct. 19), as rain is expected to pass through the Rome, Georgia area during the Berry College Invitational. The men's 8K is scheduled for 9:00 am, while the women's 6K race is slated for 10:00 am.

Out of the 19 total programs that are registered to run in the Berry Invitational, Emory is the only one to boast national rankings in its respective collegiate classification for both of its teams, according to the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Poll. The men's team goes into the weekend ranked 24th in the country among DIII teams, while the women are currently rated as the 30th-best DIII team in the nation. Regional rivals Oglethorpe, Covenant, Sewanee, Berry, Agnes Scott, and Piedmont will all be on site to compete on Saturday.

The Berry Invitational is the Eagles' last regular season meet, and it will serve as their final chance to run in a formal contest until the UAA Conference Championships, which are on Saturday, November 2nd at Schenley Park in Pittsburgh, Pa.
