The 33rd-ranked Emory women’s cross country team posted a first-place finish out of eight squads at the Sewanee Invitational.  The Eagles see their pack record the first, third and fourth scoring positions and finish with 27 points, edging runner-up Centre College’s effort of 32 points.

Junior Tamara Surtees paced the 88-runner field with a 6K time of 24:25 while  senior Emily Caesar was the next Eagle to score with her time of 24:33 good for third place.  Junior Marissa Gogniat was third among the Emory contingent, clocking a 24:45, while freshman Michelle Kagei (25:21, 9th) and junior Elise Vioxx (25:22, 10th) rounded out the team's scorers.

Later in the campaign Surtees would race to Second Team All-University Athletic Association honors and be named the program's Most Valuable Runner.

The 2013 team qualified for the NCAA Division III Championships for the ninth straight season and for the 22nd time in the past 23 campaigns.
