Emory University senior Annika Urban earned the Eagles' first University Athletic Association Athlete of the Week award of the 2022-23 academic year as the conference announced its first weekly honorees Tuesday afternoon.

Urban picked up right where she left off last November and cruised to a first place showing while competing in the 4k event at the JSU Foothills Invitational this past Friday. Urban registered a blistering 13:50.43 to outpace the field of 190 athletes and was the only runner to break the 14-minute mark on the evening. Backed by Urban, the Eagles finished second out of 21 teams while competing against a largely Division I field. The weekly honor marks Urban's sixth of her career as well the third award in cross country.

The cross country teams will be off this weekend before returning to race action on September 16 with the Julius Johnson Invitational in Macon, GA.
