Emory Athletics Weekly Preview - November 15th - 21st

The Emory Athletics Weekly Preview for November 15th – 21st. This preview is to serve as a weekly snapshot of all upcoming Emory athletic events for the coming week.

 

Cross Country:

Emory's men's and women's cross country teams will travel to Louisville, KY this weekend for the culmination of their season: the NCAA DIII Championships. The Eagles will take on the EP Tom Sawyer State Park Course as they vie for a chance at the National Championship. The men's team is led by senior Brett Lucas who placed fourth at the South/Southeast regional with a time of 25:26.0. For the women, junior Annika Urban has been dominant all season placing in the top two at all but one meet this year and most recently finished first at the South/Southeast regional beating out every other runner by over a minute with a time of 21:43.1

Men's Basketball:

The Emory men's basketball team travels to Marietta, OH this weekend for the Great Lakes Invitational where they will take on some of the top competition in the nation. On Friday, the No. 13 ranked Eagles (1-0) will take on the No. 1 ranked team in the country Randolph-Macon (3-0) before taking on Wabash (1-1) on Saturday. After their season opener freshman Cale Martens is leading the team in scoring (18 points) and rebounds (7) while senior Nick Stuck leads the team in assists (7).

Women's Basketball:

The Emory women's basketball team will play host to some of the top teams in the nation at the Emory Tip Off Classic. On Friday, The Eagles (2-1), receiving votes in the D3hoops.com poll, will face off against No. 2 ranked East Texas Baptist (1-1) before taking on Ferrum (1-2) on Sunday. Through three games this season senior Anna Arato is leading the team in scoring (13.3 ppg) while fellow senior Tori Huggins is averaging just shy of a double-double per game (11.0 ppg, 9.7 rpg).

Swimming & Diving:

The Emory University men's and women's diving teams will travel to Knoxville this week for the University of Tennessee Fall Invitational. For the men, junior Lucas Bumgarner has been the top scorer so far this season, scoring a season best 315.10 in the 1 meter 6 dives event and 363.30 in the 3 meter 6 dives event. For the women, sophomore Tess Klugherz has been the top performer so far this season, scoring a season best 229.80 in the 1 meter 6 dives event and a 238.42 in the 3 meter 6 dives event.
