Emory Trio Earns UAA Athlete of the Week Honors

Emory University juniors Claire Brock, Pat Pema and sophomore Megan Jungers were named the University Athletic Association Athletes of the Week as announced Monday afternoon by the conference office.

Brock extended her streak of double-digit scoring to 10 games this past weekend as the women's basketball team picked up two key UAA road wins at Case Western Reserve and Carnegie Mellon. Brock went for a career-high 28 points Friday night, knocking down 10 of her 16 field goal attempts including a season-high six threes as the Eagles won by 21. Brock followed that performance with a 16-point outing Sunday afternoon with most of her points coming from the free throw line as she went 10-for-12 from the stripe and was 8-for-10 in the fourth quarter to help seal the win. Brock grabbed at least four rebounds in both games while contributing two assists and two steals in each game.

Pema contributed to three event wins Saturday afternoon as the men's swimming and diving team defeated Delta State in Pensacola, FL. Pema recorded individual wins in the 200 Freestyle (1:40.96) and 500 Freestyle (4:35.94) and swam the anchor leg as the Eagles won the 400 Freestyle Relay in a time of 3:05.40. Pema also competed in the 200 Medley Relay, swimming the anchor leg as part of the Eagles' B relay that finished second at 1:32.03. This season, Pema owns the nation's top time in the 500 Free (4:23.33) and is third nationally in the 200 Free at 1:37.46.

Jungers accounted for two event wins and two second place finishes as the women's swimming and diving team swept a double dual meet with Delta State and West Florida Saturday morning. Jungers was an individual winner in the 100 Backstroke (56.35) and was second in the 100 Fly (56.83). In the relays, Jungers swam lead off as part of Emory's win in the 200 Medley (1:44.63) and swam the third leg during the 400 Freestyle as the B team placed second at 3:37.82. This season, Jungers leads all Division III swimmers in the 100 Back (54.57) and ranks 8th nationally in the 100 Fly (55.43).

This marks the second consecutive weekly honor for Brock and third this season for the junior guard. For Pema and Jungers, this is the first weekly award for either swimmer this season while marking the first-ever honor for Jungers and the third for Pema in his career.
