Five Eagles Named UAA Athletes of the Week

Five Emory University student-athletes were recognized as University Athletic Association Athletes of the Week on Monday afternoon for their performance as announced by the conference office.

Senior Annika Urban earned her 10th UAA weekly honor of the calendar year and the 15th of her career this week after setting the program record for fastest time in the 800m run. Sophomore Sharon Mun earned the sixth weekly honor of her career after leading the women's golf team in scoring at the Patriot Invitational. Senior Alexa Goetz for women's tennis and junior Tyler McLoughlin for baseball each picked up their third wins of their careers while junior Kenya Sei earned the second weekly honor of his career for his performance on the field at the Emory Thrills in the Hills Open.

After becoming the first individual indoor national champion in program history, senior Annika Urban returned to action this weekend picking up right where she left off competing in a new event and shattering records. Urban turned in a first place finish in the 800m run with a time of 2:10.15 at the Emory Thrills in the Hills Open, marking the first time in her collegiate career that she has competed in the 800m run. Urban's time established a new program record and also stands as the fastest time in Division III this season according to TFRRS, nearly a full second faster than the next closest time.

Sophomore Sharon Mun led the Eagles in scoring for the fifth consecutive tournament as she turned in a three-round score of 222 (72-76-74) at the Patriot Invitational. Mun's performance saw her finish tied for tenth at the tournament and helped the team to a sixth place finish against a field of primarily Division II teams.

Senior Alexa Goetz went 3-0 in singles and 3-0 in doubles as Emory posted 9-0 wins over NC Wesleyan, DePauw and #10 Sewanee this weekend at home. Goetz won all three singles matches in straight sets, only dropping more than one game in two of the six sets. In doubles, she teamed with freshman Izzy Antanavicius for wins at the No. 2 position, posting results of 8-1 vs NCW, 8-6 vs. DePauw and 8-3 vs. Sewanee.

Junior Tyler McLoughlin went 9-for-16 with six extra base hits as the Eagles went 3-1 this week, including a 2-1 record against UAA foe NYU. McLoughlin had multi-hit games in three games and had at least one double in all three wins. He now leads the Eagles with 10 doubles and seven home runs so far this season.

Junior Kenya Sei showed out at the Emory Thrills in the Hills Open scoring in two separate events over the course of the weekend. Sei opened the weekend with a third place finish in the hammer throw when he tossed a distance of 52.94m which is the second farthest distance in program history. Sei's distance of 52.94m also stands as the fifth farthest throw in Division III this season according to TFRRS. Sei followed that up with a seventh place finish in the discus throw, recording a distance of 40.87m.
