Two Eagles Land UAA Athlete of the Week Honors

Two Emory University student-athletes were named University Athletic Association Athletes of the Week as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.

Junior Jackson Klutznick earned his first weekly honor of the year and the fourth of his career by virtue of winning the Emory Spring Invitational last week. Junior Tyler McLoughlin won his second UAA weekly honor of the season and the fourth of his career by virtue of his performance in the conference clinching series against WashU this weekend.

Junior Jackson Klutznick helped lead the No. 1 ranked Eagles to a share of the Shoals Intercollegiate title as he paced the team for the duration of the tournament. Klutznick carded a 54-hole total of 213 (72-69-72) which saw him finish the tournament tied for third place. Klutznick's performance helped lead the Eagles to their fifth tournament win of the academic year.

Junior Tyler McLoughlin went 10-for-15 across five games, including a four-game sweep of WashU, recording hits in all five games and had at least two hits or more in every game vs. the Bears. McLoughlin scored a team-best nine runs and smacked two home runs and drove in three. He reached base 73.3% of the time during the week. His two home runs pushed him into a UAA lead with 10 on the season, becoming the sixth player in Emory history to reach double digit home runs in a single season.

Baseball is back in action for their final regular season game of the season on Tuesday when they take on LaGrange at 3:00 PM at Chappell Park. Men's golf is off until the NCAA Division III Championships beginning on May 16th in Nicholasville, Kentucky.
