Three Eagles Garner UAA Athlete of the Week Honors

Three more Emory University student-athletes were honored as University Athletic Association Athletes of the Week as announced by the league office Monday afternoon. 

Volleyball saw two more selections for their historic season with junior Alana Dawson picking up her second honor of the season while junior Deborah Hong earned her fifth selection of the season following the Eagles' run in the NCAA Tournament. Women's basketball saw their first Athlete of the Week with junior Daniella Aronsky earning her first selection of the season after her milestone weekend. 

Despite a loss in the Sweet Sixteen, Dawson had an impressive run at the NCAA Tournament that garnered her Mount Berry Regional All-Tournament Team honors. She totaled 38 kills over 12 sets including 19 kills against Covenant on Friday afternoon in the thrilling five-set win and also led the team with a .552 hitting percentage against the Scots (19-3--29). Dawson also showed her accuracy against Meredith College on Thursday with a .316 hitting percentage (8-2--19).

Hong closed out her junior campaign with a bang at the NCAA Tournament this week and earned Mount Berry Regional All-Tournament Team recognition for her efforts. She posted a career-high 35 digs against the Covenant Scots on Friday in a five-set thriller to help the Eagles advance to the Sweet Sixteen. She also posted 31 digs against Trinity in the regional final on Saturday and totaled 82 digs during the Eagles' tournament run. She also helped the Eagles with 20 assists including seven against Covenant and Trinity. 

Aronsky had one of the most impressive weeks of her career facing the LaGrange Panthers on Tuesday and competing in the Emory Tip Off Classic on Saturday and Sunday. She totaled 38 points on the week including a season-best 19 against Lagrange and averaged 16 points per game. Aronsky went 14-22 beyond the perimeter including two games with five threes to tie the second best of her career. Along with her shooting, Aronsky totaled 17 assists on the week averaging 5.7 per game and only allowed three turnovers.
