Emory Baseball Named to the NCAA Championship Field

Emory University received a bid to the NCAA Division III Baseball Championships, and will head to Piedmont College in Demorest, Georgia to compete in a six-team regional, as announced by the NCAA late Sunday night.

It marked the 11th bid to the NCAA Championship in the program's 24-year history.  Emory last qualified for the NCAA Championships during the 2012 campaign.

Emory will be the second seed in the Demorest Regional, and be joined at the site by top-seeded Shenandoah University, third-seeded Birmingham-Southern College, fourth-seeded Bridgewater College (Va.), fifth-seeded Rhodes College and sixth-seeded Covenant College.  Emory will open tournament play against Rhodes on Wednesday, May 14th, and will be the second game of the day.

The Eagles finished the 2014 regular season with a 29-10 overall record, the most victories by the team since the 2007 season.  Emory is currently ranked 24th in the D3Baseball.com poll and 30th in the College Baseball Newspaper rankings.

More details about the NCAA Regionals, including game times, dates, and coverage, will be posted to EmoryAthletics.com later in the day on Monday.
