Henry Pelinski Honored on CSC Academic All-America Third Team

Emory University senior Henry Pelinski was recognized by the College Sports Communicators (CSC) organization Wednesday afternoon as he was honored on the Academic All-America Third Team for Baseball.

Pelinski is the eighth from Emory Baseball to be named an Academic All-American by CSC (formerly CoSIDA) and the first since Kyle Monk was a two-time selection in 2016 and 2017.

With Pelinski's honor, 13 different Eagles have been named an Academic All-American during the 2022-23 academic calendar – the most in a single year in the history of the Emory Athletics department. Pelinski joins Aubrey Blanchard and Kylie Hall (women's soccer), Claire Brock (women's basketball), Taylor Leone, Caroline Maki and Slone Donovan (women's swimming & diving), Jake Meyer, Lucas Bumgarner and Ryan Gibbons (men's swimming & diving), Nolan Shah (men's tennis), Alexa Goetz (women's tennis) and Tyler Miller (softball) as recipients of the prestigious honor.

With Pelinski, the total number of Emory student-athletes recognized as Academic All-Americans increases to 211.

In his final season with the Eagles, Pelinski earned All-Region Third Team honors by both ABCA and d3baseball.com and landed a spot on the All-UAA Second Team. In 39 games, he led the Eagles in both batting average (.435) and on-base percentage (.535) while collecting 10 extra base hits, scoring 35 runs and driving in 33 runs. He was one of three Eagles to reach 10 stolen bases and was one of five players to collect 20 or more walks. He finished the season riding a 12-game hitting streak, including a pair of four-hit efforts against Brandeis and MUW, and drove in a career-high five runs in UAA wins over Case Western and Brandeis.

Pelinski was joined by teammates Jack Halloran, Ellis Schwartz, Mike Golob and Aaron Mishoulam on the CSC Academic All-District Team earlier this month and proceeded to be placed on the All-America ballot for voting. CSC Academic All-America Teams are nominated and voted on by College Sports Communicators and Sports Information Directors across all Division III institutions.

The CSC Academic All-America team recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. To be nominated, student-athletes must be a key member of their respective teams, maintain a 3.50 grade point average, be of sophomore standing or higher, and have attended their current institutions for at least one year.
