Men's Golf Tied for Second After First Day of DIII Showcase

After weather delays canceled a round of play, the Emory University men's golf team finished the first day of the DIII Showcase in French Lick, IN tied for second place. The two-day tournament is being played on the 6,612-yard, par-70 Donald Ross Golf Course at the French Lick Resort.

The No. 2 ranked Eagles are tied in second place with Kenyon and No. 19 Denison after posting a team-score of 291 after one round of play. Emory finished the first day with the best score on all par-3 holes (E) and par-5 holes (-1). The Eagles sit tied for second in the field of 20 teams, ten of whom are ranked in the top 25 according to the GCAA Top 25 Poll. Sitting atop the leaderboard after the first day is conference foe and No. 6 ranked Carnegie Mellon.

Junior Jackson Klutznick led the way for the Eagles posting a score of 70 during the first day of play to finish tied for fourth amongst the 100 golfers competing. Klutznick tied for the tournament lead with a score of -1 on all par-5 holes. Senior Logan Ryan carded a 73 to finish tied for 18th through the first round of play. Seniors Max Schwarz and Davis Hingtgen tied for 24th place as they each registered a 74. Freshman Tony Li rounded out scoring for the Eagles with a score of 78.

The Eagles return for the second round at the DIII Showcase on Tuesday morning with hopes of moving into first place to secure their second tournament win of the spring.
