#2 Men’s Golf Finishes Third at Shoals Intercollegiate; Klutznick Named to All-Tournament Team

The No. 2 ranked Emory men's golf concluded play at the Shoals Intercollegiate in Muscle Shoals, Alabama on Tuesday afternoon. The Eagles fielded two lineups in the event, with the A-Team finishing in third place with an 873 (+9) and the B-Team finishing in eighth with a 926 (+62). UAA-foe #5 Carnegie Mellon won the event with a three-round score of 853 (-11) and a 10 stroke cushion over second-place finisher, #1 Methodist. The event was played at the RTJ at the Shoals' Par-72, 7,165-yard Fighting Joe course.

Both Emory lineups had their best rounds of the tournament on Tuesday, with the A-Team shooting a 279 (-9) and the B-Team carding a 302 (+14). The A-Team's 279 was the lowest single-round score of any team at the event all weekend. Eight of the nine Eagles competing either matched or improved upon their score from their second round.

Stealing the show for Emory was senior Jackson Klutznick who shot his best round of the tournament on Tuesday with a 69 (-3) to bring his final round score to 211 (-5). He had a tough start to his round Tuesday, hitting his initial drive into a difficult lie, leading to a bogey on his first hole. However, he went on to shoot four under over the next 17 holes and made par or better on each. The senior finished tied for third and was named to the All-Tournament team for his performance.

Junior Michael Burry had his best round of the tournament, shooting a 70 (-2) on Tuesday. Burry was impressive from the edge of the greens, having a couple of impressive chips to help keep his score under par. The junior finished his three rounds with a score of 219 (+3) to finish tied for ninth.

Junior Josh Qian improved upon his score from round two by five strokes, turning in a 70 (-2) on Tuesday. Qian knocked in four birdies to go along with two bogeys and 12 pars to climb 12 spots on the individual leaderboard. Qian finishes his three rounds at 224 (+8) and in 16th place.

Sophomore Brian Hanson remained steady on the course over his three rounds, shooting his third 75 (+3) of the event. He knocked in 15 pars alongside three bogeys to finish the event at 225 (+9) and tied for 17th.

Senior Michael Rosenbloom rounds out the Eagles' A-Team lineup, with a very solid day on Tuesday. After shooting a 78 (+6) in each of his first two rounds, Rosenbloom shot a 70 (-2) to climb 14 spots on the leaderboard and finish 19th overall.

Junior Tony Li was the B-Team lineup's top player for the tournament, finishing with a 228 (+12). He shot a 76 (+4) on Tuesday. Li finished his tournament with eight birdies and 31 pars.

Freshman Kevin Mu had his most successful round of the tournament, shooting a 73 (+1) on Tuesday. The rookie had three birdies, two of which came on Par-5s. Mu finished the event tied for 26th with a three-round score of 229 (+13). Mu's classmate Brady Lagendyk was close behind, carding a 234 (+18) over three rounds. Lagendyk also had his best round of the tournament on Tuesday, shooting a 75 (+3).

Rounding out the scoring for the Eagles was senior Logan Lowery, who shot a 78 (+6) to bring his tournament total to 235 (+19).

The Eagles will be back in Georgia this weekend when they host the Emory Spring Invitational at Cherokee Run in Conyers, Georgia. They'll start with two rounds on Saturday before concluding with 18 final holes on Sunday.
