#1 UChicago Downs Emory Men's Soccer, 3-0

The Emory University men's soccer team fell on the road Saturday afternoon to No. 1 ranked University of Chicago at Stagg Field in Chicago.

The Maroons stayed perfect on the season as they improved to 12-0 and 2-0 in UAA play following the 3-0 decision while the Eagles dropped to 3-5-4 and 0-2 in conference action.

Following not much action within the game's first 20 minutes, the Maroons broke through in the 22nd minute as Ryan Yetishefsky scored on the assist from Kai Walsh for the game's first goal.

Senior Alejandro Gomez had the Eagles' first shot of the game in the 41st minute as a great, header flick set up Gomez with a 1-on-1 opportunity but was denied on the equalizer by the Maroons netminder.

UC's Naz Kabbani made it a 2-0 game early in the second half before the Eagles nearly got one back with back-to-back scoring threats in the 64th and 65th minutes. Senior Zach Kornblum had a close range shot turned away before classmate Madison Conduah had the best chance of the day moments later, biting in front of a defender to put a shot on frame but a diving stop by Chicago's Will Boyes kept the Eagles off the scoreboard.

Following Conduah's opportunity, the Maroons used the counter including taking advantage of a turnover deep in the zone to put the game out of reach as Alex Lee recorded the final tally off the feed by Ryan Shea.

Emory will return to Atlanta for the first UAA double weekend of the season next week, hosting NYU and Brandeis at the WoodPEC. The weekend's action begins Friday evening against the Violets with a kickoff scheduled for 5:00 PM.
