Eagles Return to Action with Dual Meet at Florida Southern

The Emory University swimming & diving programs return to action following the holiday break to take on Division II member Florida Southern College in a dual meet this Friday afternoon at 4:00 PM in Lakeland, Florida.

The Eagles women enter the meet ranked second in the latest collegeswimming.com Division III rankings with the men sit third. The Moccasins are eighth in both the men’s and women’s Division II rankings.

Emory is coming off a stellar weekend at the Miami and SCAD Invitationals from December 3-5 where the team saw three school records broken, recorded 89 NCAA “B” Cut times and posted 43 (29 women, 14 men) new top individual marks and eight relay teams (five women, three men) that currently rank in the top 10 times in their respective events at the Division III level. The Eagles women placed second at both meets while the men finished second at Miami and third at the SCAD Invite.

Florida Southern last swam at the Tampa Spartan Invitational from December 18-20, finishing second in both the men’s and women’s competition.

This will mark the fourth meeting between the two schools, all since 2012. The Emory women are a perfect 3-0 against the Mocs, posting a 176-105 victory in the previous meeting last season. The men trail FSC 3-0 in the all-time series, falling to the Moccasins 176-107 a year ago. Emory teams are 1-2 in dual meets this season while the Florida Southern women are 1-3-1 and the men enter Friday’s meet at 2-1.
