The Emory University men’s tennis team, ranked No. 3 in Division III, captured its fourth straight match this afternoon with a win over No. 7-ranked Williams College.  The Eagles upped their record to 7-4 following a 6-3 triumph over the Ephs who slipped to 0-3.

Emory got off to a quick start as it claimed all three doubles matches.  The team of Chris Goodwin and Alex Chun recorded an impressive 8-1 win at the No. 1 position over the Williams duo of Nick Lebedoff and Kevin Shallcross.  Seniors Oliver Lopp and David Caplan joined forces to earn a win at the No. 2 spot, while senior Chris Jordan and freshman Noah Simonson accounted for the other point at No. 3.

The teams split the six singles matches.  Sophomore Dillon Pottish upped his season record to 17-3 with a methodical 6-1, 6-0 verdict against Lebedoff at No. 1 while Goodwin saw his record improve to 13-4 with a 6-2, 6-4 triumph at No. 2 against Jeremy Weinberger.  Junior Colin Egan picked up the other singles point with a decisive 6-0, 6-0 outcome over Shallcross at No. 5.

Emory returns to action on Thursday, April 1, when it competes in opening-day action of the Small College Blue and Gray Invitational hosted by Auburn-Montgomery.
