Match Results
The Emory University men’s tennis team, ranked No. 3 in
Division III, captured its fourth straight match this afternoon
with a win over No. 7-ranked Williams College. The Eagles
upped their record to 7-4 following a 6-3 triumph over the Ephs who
slipped to 0-3.
Emory got off to a quick start as it claimed all three doubles
matches. The team of Chris Goodwin and Alex Chun recorded an
impressive 8-1 win at the No. 1 position over the Williams duo of
Nick Lebedoff and Kevin Shallcross. Seniors Oliver Lopp and
David Caplan joined forces to earn a win at the No. 2 spot, while
senior Chris Jordan and freshman Noah Simonson accounted for the
other point at No. 3.
The teams split the six singles matches. Sophomore Dillon
Pottish upped his season record to 17-3 with a methodical 6-1, 6-0
verdict against Lebedoff at No. 1 while Goodwin saw his record
improve to 13-4 with a 6-2, 6-4 triumph at No. 2 against Jeremy
Weinberger. Junior Colin Egan picked up the other singles
point with a decisive 6-0, 6-0 outcome over Shallcross at No.
5.
Emory returns to action on Thursday, April 1, when it competes in
opening-day action of the Small College Blue and Gray Invitational
hosted by Auburn-Montgomery.
