Men’s Tennis Sweeps Doubleheader against Birmingham-Southern & Washington College

The Emory University men's tennis team defeated both Birmingham-Southern College and Washington College by a 9-0 decision on Saturday afternoon in Atlanta, Georgia.

The Eagles earn their 10th and 11th win of the season with the sweep winning eight of their last 10 matches.

In doubles, graduate student Charlie James and junior Ryan Glanville opened the scoring with their 8-5 win on court one with seniors Andrew Esses and Samuel Dean posting an 8-4 decision on two followed by an 8-3 victory from junior Nolan Shah and freshman Dean Kamenev.

In singles, Kamenev and sophomore Emilio Van Cotthem both earned straight set wins with a 6-4, 6-1 decision. Glanville earned another point for Emory with a 7-5, 6-7, 10-7 victory followed by straight set wins from senior William Coupe (6-3, 6-0) and freshman Eshaan Dani (6-1, 6-3) on four and five. Freshman John Lasanajak rounded out the first match with his 6-4, 6-2 victory on court six.

Later in the afternoon, the Eagles resumed play against Washington College.

Once again, the Eagles carried a 3-0 lead into singles with the same three tandems earning doubles points.

Moving to singles, the Eagles continued their momentum earning straight set wins in four out of six matches. Glanville rounded out the day on court six with a 6-3, 4-6, 10-3 victory.

Emory will return to the courts on Monday, March 20 to face Kalamazoo at 2:30 pm in Atlanta, Georgia.
