Men's Tennis Posts Third Straight Shutout; Blanks Kalamazoo

The Emory University men's tennis team concluded a perfect 4-0 weekend at home on Monday, defeating Kalamazoo College by a 9-0 decision.

The win marked the third straight 9-0 result for the Eagles as they improved to 12-2 overall while the loss makes KC 3-5 through the spring.

Samuel Dean and John Lasanajak opened the doubles scoring with a 8-1 win on court three and was followed by an 8-3 victory by Nolan Shah and Dean Kamenev at the second position. Ryan Glanville and Charlie James finished off the doubles sweep, pulling out the 8-6 decision at the top spot for their 13th match of the spring and improved to 19-2 overall.

In singles action the Eagles secured straight set wins on all six courts with the tightest match occurring at the second position as Kamenev, the reigning UAA Athlete of the Week, earned a 7-6, 6-3 result. Freshman Eshaan Dani shined at the fifth spot with a 6-0, 6-0 whitewashing while freshman Spencer Richards made his spring debut with a 6-2, 7-5 win on court six.

Shah picked up a 6-3, 6-1 on the No. 1 line whereas sophomore Emilio Van Cotthem had a 6-1, 6-1 result at third singles. Senior William Coupe rounded out the sweep with his 6-0, 6-1 victory at the No. 4 position.

The Eagles will continue their homestand next Sunday, March 26 when Emory hosts MIT at 10:00 AM at the WoodPEC.
