Theodore Drye Earns UAA Top End-of-Season Honor

Emory University track and field freshman Theodore Drye was awarded the UAA Men's Rookie of the Year title for the outdoor season as announced by the league office on Tuesday.

Drye becomes the fifth Eagle to earn the award and this marks the third consecutive season an Eagle has taken home the honor. Teammates Henry Brandstadter and Jackson Price have won the award the previous two seasons.

At the UAA Championships, Drye took home the gold in the 400m finals after running the fastest time in prelims. He finished the event with a 47.84 mark which ranks 27th in the nation and first in the UAA. He was also a part of the 4x400 relay team that finished first with a time of 3:14.40. Their time ranks 16th in the nation and first in the UAA.

Throughout the outdoor season, Drye has been in a number of 4x100 and 4x400 relays that have placed in the top five at each event. The best finish outside of the UAA Championships came at the Emory Thrills in the Hills meet where the 4x400 group took second with a time of 3:17.97.

The Eagles will compete at the Lee Last Chance meet on Saturday, May 11 before turning their attention to the NCAA Outdoor Championships.
