The Emory men’s and women’s cross country teams travel to Spartanburg, South Carolina this Saturday where they will compete against a 32-team field in the Converse Kickoff. The women’s 6k will begin at 9:30 AM while the men’s 8k is set to start at 10:15 AM. 

Emory’s women’s team is the only team in the field of 32 to be nationally ranked in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association DIII poll, where they currently sit ranked 25th. The men’s team goes into the weekend hoping to catapult themselves back into the rankings as they race against the likes of No. 27 Washington & Lee and regional foes Berry, Piedmont, Oglethorpe, and Augusta amongst others. 

The Converse Kickoff marks the Eagles first meet of the year where they will be racing against out of region foes. The race also serves as an opportunity for Emory to run on the same course they will be competing on at the NCAA South/Southeast Regional Championship on November 13.
