Emory Softball Rallies For Second-Game Win vs. DePauw -- Sweeps Thursday Twinbill

The Emory softball team came through with a dramatic rally in the second game of a doubleheader against DePauw Thursday afternoon, allowing the Eagles to post a sweep over the Tigers.  Trailing by a 6-0 count heading into its final at bat, Emory scored seven runs to escape with a victory in the nightcap.  In the opener, the Eagles posted a five-inning, 9-1 triumph.  Emory now stands 19-9 on the season while DePauw slips to 3-13.

GAME 2 – EMORY 7, DEPAUW 6
** Emory takes advantage of three DePauw in errors in the bottom of the seventh, crossing the plate seven times to come away with the win.
**Sophomore Cassie Baca's sacrifice fly with one out in the seventh, plates Sarah Flanders with the game-winning score. Earlier in the inning, Baca doubled in Ashley Powers with the team's first run of the contest.
** Baca collects two of the team's 10 hits, the sixth time in the past seven games it has finished with double figures in that category.
** Emory had recorded just five hits through the first six innings before collecting five in the decisive seventh inning.
** Senior pitcher Brittany File pocketed the win in relief, her eighth in 12 decisions, hurling 3 1/3 scoreless and hitless innings, striking out two.
** Sophomore Sam Vincent records one hit in four plate appearances, extending her hitting streak to 11 games.

GAME 1 – EMORY 9, DePAUW 1 (5 inn.)
** Freshman Jessie Michael, junior Janelle Turnquest and Sam Vincent all hit safely twice as part of the Eagles' 10-hit attack.
**
Turnquest finishes with three RBIs, all of which came on a three-run double in the bottom of the third that staked the Eagles to a 4-0 lead. It was Turnquest's third multi-RBI effort of the season.
**After crossing the plate two more times in the fourth, Emory closes the game out with a three-run fifth.   After a DePauw fielding miscue allowed Amy Wray to score, freshman Kinsey Glasgow delivers a two-run single with two out that scores Vincent and Turnquest.
** Sophomore Toko Miller picks up the win in the circle, her fourth of the year against three setbacks, going all five innings and surrendering four hits while striking out one.

Emory returns to action on Friday (Mar. 31) when its Washington University for a pair of games starting at 2:30 pm.
