The Emory University softball team took their fifth loss of the season to Maryville College on Wednesday afternoon falling 10-1 in six innings. 

The Eagles drop to 9-5 overall on the season while the Scots take their second consecutive win at Cooper Field after defeating Rhodes College on Tuesday. 

The game was held scoreless until the third inning when Maryville's offense came alive to take a 3-0 lead. The Scots scored three more runs in the top of the fifth inning and Emory answered with a run in the bottom of the fifth from freshman Ella Hoyle. 

The Scots scored four more runs in the top of the sixth and the Eagles were unable to answer again in the inning. 

Emory will face Maryville again on Thursday, March 16 at 3 pm before traveling to local foe Piedmont on Saturday, March 18 at 4 pm.
