The Emory University softball team took a 6-1 loss against Georgia opponent Berry College on Wednesday afternoon in Atlanta, Georgia.
The Eagles drop to 10-7 on the year while the No. 8 Vikings improve to 19-4.
Berry was able to score three runs in the top of the first inning and scored the fourth run in the top of the third on a single up the middle.
The Vikings scored two more runs on a two-run shot in the top of the fifth. The game was held scoreless until the bottom of the seventh.
Junior Page Nellis started the bottom of the inning with a double into the right field gap. Junior Leslie Berg plated Nellis with a single to the shortstop to bring the score to 6-1, but the Eagles were unable to answer the rally call.
Emory will play host to No. 5 Case Western Reserve to open UAA play on Friday, March 24 at 3 pm followed by a doubleheader on Saturday, March 25 to start Champions Weekend.
