Softball Drops Heartbreaker to St. Olaf, 6-4

The Emory University softball team fell to the St. Olaf College Oles 6-4 in nine innings on Tuesday afternoon in Atlanta, Georgia.

The Eagles drop to 12-9 on the season while the Oles get their fifth win of the year.

Freshman Ella Hoyle got a jump start for Emory with a single through the right side to score freshman Ashley Chu in the bottom of the first inning. In the bottom of the second with two runners on, senior Tyler Miller drove a long home run to left field to give the Eagles a 4-0 lead in the second inning.

The Oles slowly made a comeback starting with a run in the top of the fourth followed by another in the top of the sixth. The game was tied in the top of the seventh on a home run from St. Olaf.

Junior Natalie Swift came in for relief and held the game scoreless until the top of the ninth inning where the Oles scored two runs to win the game 6-4.

The Eagles will face St. Olaf again on Wednesday, March 28 at 4 pm for the second game of the two game series.
