Softball Drops Final Game to WashU Sunday Afternoon

The Emory University softball team lost its matchup against the WashU Bears, 6-1, on Sunday afternoon in Atlanta, Georgia. The Eagles celebrated senior Tyler Miller following the conclusion of the game.

The Eagles fall to 15-19 on the year and sit 5-10 in UAA play while the Bears improve to 17-15 this season, 9-7 in the conference.

WashU jumped to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first after capitalizing on a fielding error from the Eagles, but freshman Mackenzie Duford was able to hold the Bears scoreless again until the top of the fifth inning.

The bats came alive for the Bears in the fifth scoring five runs on six hits giving them a 6-0 lead.

Later in the sixth inning, Miller drove in her final run at Cooper Field with a huge double to the right field gap bringing in freshman Isabel Cohen.

The Eagles were unable to score again and the Bears took the game 6-1.

Emory will hit the road for the final UAA series of the season where they will face Carnegie Mellon on Friday, April 21 at 3 pm.
