GAME FACTS – The Emory women’s
basketball team returns to the Woodruff PE Center this weekend when
it plays host to Brandeis University and New York University.
On Friday, the Eagles tangle with the Judges of Brandeis in a 6:00
p.m. start before meeting up with NYU on Sunday in a 2:00 p.m.
start.
THE COACHES – Emory Head Coach
Christy Thomaskutty (Tulane, ’96) is in her
eighth season at the helm of the program. She assumed her
current duties prior to the start of the 2003-04
campaign.
In her 25th campaign at the helm of the Brandeis program is
Carol Simon (Colby College, 1985). During
her tenure with the Judges, she has manufactured a total of 347
victories.
Stefano Trompeo (Florida, 2003) is in his third year in
calling the shots at New York University. Heading into a
Friday affair at the University of Rochester, Trompeo has recorded
a school and career mark of 49-25.
2010-11 RECORDS – Emory starts the weekend
with an overall record of 8-10 (1-6 UAA). Last Friday, Emory
dropped a 76-67 road verdict to Brandeis before falling short at
NYU, 75-60, on Sunday. The Eagles have won seven of nine home
games this year.
Brandeis stands 10-8 in overall action, 2-5 in the league.
After defeating Emory last Friday, the Judges hosted Rochester and
fell by a 61-50 score.
NYU starts the second half of the UAA schedule with an overall
effort of 10-8, 4-3 in the league. Prior to topping the
Eagles last Sunday, the Violets upended Rochester, 82-69.
SERIES RECORDS – In a series that dates from
January of 1989, both Emory and Brandeis have captured 22
wins. Emory holds a 12-10 edge over the Judges in games
played in Atlanta.
In a series that also has its origins in January of 1989, NYU has
compiled a 34-10 record against Emory. The Violets have captured 15
of 22 meetings played on Emory’s home floor.
NOTES – After leading the team in rebounding
for the eighth time in 2010-11 with nine boards at Brandeis,
sophomore Misha Jackson came through with a
season-high 21 points against NYU ... Jackson's effort vs. NYU was
her sixth double-figure scoring performance of the year and the
third-highest total turned in by an Emory player this year ...
At the start of the weekend, the 5-foot-11 Jackson ranks among the
top 20 UAA players in five categories – 18th in
scoring (9.6 ppg), 6th in rebounding (6.6 rpg),
10th in field goal percentage (.458), tied for seventh
in steals (1.9 spg) and tied for fifth in blocked shots (1.1 bpg)
… Sophomore Danielle Landry, the UAA's No.
4 leading rebounder (7.0 rpg), grabbed a team-best eight boards vs.
NYU and has now topped the club in the category in nine games ...
The Eagles' nine three-point field goals against Brandeis last
Friday tied the team's second-highest total of the year ... Junior
Emily Hyncik has three-point field goals to her
credit in the last five games and is shooting 66.7 percent
(12-of-18) from beyond the arc over the last four contests ...
Hyncik has moved up to the No. 4 position on the league’s
chart in three-point field goal percentage (.364) … Freshman
Savannah Morgan's team-high 13 points vs. Brandeis
represented her eighth double-figure scoring performance of the
campaign … Morgan’s 4.3 per-game average in assists
ties her for the No. 5 spot in the UAA (62nd nationally)
and she is deadlocked for the No. 10 spot in steals (1.8 spg)
… Morgan has led or tied for the team lead in assists in 14
contests … Emory has 11 games of 10 or more thefts this year
and leads the UAA and is 48th nationally in steals (12.4
spg) … The Eagles are averaging 75.0 points per contest,
good for the No. 2 spot among UAA squads and 16th on the
national scene … Freshman Hannah Lilly, the team's leading
scorer (11.1 ppg), has scored in double figures on nine occasions
… Lilly is 13th among UAA players in scoring
… The Eagles are 18-3 during Thomaskutty’s tenure as
head coach when scoring 80 or more points … Emory has
outshot nine opponents from the floor this season and stands 8-1 in
those contests … The Eagles have enjoyed an edge in
the rebounding department in six games and post a 6-0 mark in
those outings … Emory has outscored the opposition in 19 of
36 halves … In its eight victories, Emory is averaging 87.8
points and shooting 45.8 percent from the field … In their
eight setbacks, the Eagles are averaging 64.8 points and connecting
at a 36.8 percent clip of their field goal tries
