Women's Golf Finishes Third at Golfweek October Classic

The No. 3 ranked Emory University women's golf team closed out the Golfweek October Classic on Tuesday, posting its lowest round of the three-day tournament.

The Eagles shot under 300 as a team across the final round to finish the tournament in third place at 908 (302-309-297). Pomona-Pitzer won the team title following its third round score of 296 to give them 879 for the tournament while UAA-foe Carnegie Mellon placed second at 898.

Junior Sharon Mun used four birdies and 10 pars to post a team-low round of 73 on Tuesday while freshman Esther Jung finished one stroke back with her round that featured three birdies and 10 pars.

Junior Heejo Hyun and freshman Derica Chiu each carded a 75 on the final day as they topped the Eagles on the individual leaderboard as both Eagles tied for 21st. Junior Ellen Dong had her best day of the tournament, recording a 76 as she tied for 51st.

The Eagles will remain in Sandestin, Florida for one more afternoon as Emory looks to go for the three-peat at the UAA Championships on Wednesday. The Eagles will be matched up against WashU in the semifinals beginning at 7:00 AM CT with the championship round to follow.
