The No. 5 ranked Emory University women's golf team continued with the Columbia Classic on Saturday, shaving seven strokes off their team total in the second round of the tournament in Melbourne, Florida.
The Eagles totaled 312 on Sunday, improving off their 319 first round score from Saturday. Following the second day, Emory finds itself 16th in the field alongside Division I foes Old Dominion, Dartmouth, Kennesaw State, Penn State, Yale, Richmond, Eastern Kentucky, Youngstown State, James Madison, Columbia, Seton Hall, Cal State Fullerton, Albany, St John's, and Princeton.
Freshman Carys Code was the Emory leader once again as she fired a two-over 74 to pace the Eagles. Code had 14 pars on the afternoon and impressed on holes 13 and 15 with birdies.
Junior Ellen Dong came into the clubhouse with a six-over 78 following her round that featured 13 pars. Freshman Derica Chiu and senior Mariana Chong each carded an 80 on Sunday while freshman Esther Jung carded an 81 to round out the Emory players on the team circuit.
After two rounds, Code leads the Eagles tied for 34th with Dong in a tie for 61st. Chong and Chiu are both tied for 74th while Jung is tied for 77th.
Sophomore Cindy Wang also represented the Eagles on the course as she continued her competition as an individual. After shooting a team-best 77 on Saturday, Wang shot a 76 on Sunday and enters Monday's final round in a tie for 42nd.
The third and final round will commence with a shotgun start beginning at 8:15 AM.
