The No. 5 ranked Emory University women's golf team returned to the course for the first time since early February, competing in the first round of the Westbrook Invite at the Lakes at the Westbrook Village Golf Club in Peoria, Arizona. The two-round, two-day tournament is being played on the par 71, 5810 yards Westbrook Lakes Course.

After one day in the desert, the Eagles find themselves in the middle of the 10-team pack with a round one score of 290. Emory is just six shots off the lead with Claremont-Mudd-Scripps leading the field with a day one total of 284.

Sophomore Cindy Wang and freshman Carys Code paced the Eagles in the team scoring as both golfers entered the clubhouse with a score of 72. Both Eagles matched Mun with 13 pars and will begin Sunday tied for the 12th position.

Behind them were junior Ellen Dong and freshman Esther Jung who find themselves situated in a tie for 18th at the end of Saturday with day one scores of 73. Jung and Dong posted three birdies a piece on the afternoon.

Rounding out the Emory lineup on Saturday was sophomore Katie Park who carded a three-over 74 to end the day in a tie for 21st. Park finished tied for the team lead with 13 pars and recorded one birdie on hole 10.

The Eagles as a unit were third in the round with 59 pars and were fourth with 11 birdies.
