Case Western Reserve University used three second half goals to down the Emory University Women's Soccer team, 5-2, on a dreary Sunday afternoon in Cleveland, OH.

The Spartans scored all three goals over the final 17 minutes of regulation to record their first UAA win of the season. With the loss, the Eagles dropped to 1-4-1 in conference play and 9-6-1 overall. The win also marked the first for Case Western Reserve over Emory in 31 all-time meetings.

The first half saw a flurry of action as both programs combined for four goals and headed into the break tied at 2-2.

After junior Madison Phaneuf was denied by CWRU's Lauren Unterborn on a penalty kick, the Spartans went down the field and saw Elle Zadina score an unassisted marker in the eighth minute.

The Eagles responded quickly, scoring the equalizer 29 seconds later as freshman Samantha Hilsee registered her team-leading fifth goal of the season. After Unterborn batted an Emory cross to the middle of the box, Hilsee put a shot on target from the top of 18, drilling the crossbar and in for the score.

Melanie Kukura put CWRU back in front as she knocked in the loose ball after junior Dani Staffin could not control the Spartan cross into the six.

Six minutes later, junior Abbe McCarter made it 2-2 with a strike from 20 yards out from the top of the box.

The score remained tied at 2-2 until the 73^rd minute when Zadina crossed a ball off of a corner kick with Angelina Batty putting in from the right side of the goal.

The Spartans doubled their lead less than 10 minutes later at 81:55 when Kimberely Chen delivered a pass to Emily Dickens who laced a shot home from 25 yards out. Kukura rounded out the scoring with her second tally of the contest in the 86^th minute as Chen sent a cross to Kukura who tapped it to the opposite corner of the net.

Emory outshot Case Western Reserve 25-12 including a 13-11 margin in shots on goal. Both teams earned eight corner kicks on the afternoon.

Unterborn made 10 stops to record her seventh win of the year while Staffin saved six shots, tying a season-high, to fall to 5-4-1.

The Eagles return to Atlanta to host the University of Rochester next Saturday, November 4^th, in the regular season finale. Game time is set for 1:30 PM. Prior to the start of the game, Emory will honor its six-member senior class with an on-field ceremony.
