Emory Swimming Records 26 ‘B’ Cut Times in Final Meet before NCAAs

Emory University swimmers took full advantage of their last opportunity to improve on their qualifying times for the NCAA Division III Championships, combining for 26 NCAA 'B' cut times at the Bulldog Last Chance Meet over the weekend.

The Emory men's squad picked up 13 of the 'B' cut times, including two apiece for seniors Jared Dubnow and Ben Redpath.  Dubnow finished with provisional times in both the 100-yard backstroke (51.22 seconds) and the 200-yard backstroke (1:51.49 in the preliminaries), while Redpath swam 'B' cut times in the 200-yard individual medley (1:54.03 in the preliminaries) and the 200-yard butterfly (1:52.33).

Other 'B' cut times for the Emory men at the meet came from sophomore Jack Polisini (4:04.35) and senior Bryant Jones (4:07.58) in the 400-yard individual medley, junior Jeff Simpson (1:41.37) and senior Sean Ransenberg (1:41.51) in the 200-yard freestyle, senior Zeke Van Keuren in the 100-yard backstroke (51.64 seconds), senior Paul Weinstein in the 1,650-yard freestyle (15:48.26), junior Justin Beegle in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:03.44), and sophomore Darrell Eacret (1:51.27) and freshman Kevin Flood (1:53.71) in the 200-yard butterfly.

The Emory women totaled 13 provisional qualification marks, including two each for sophomore Suzanne Lemberg, sophomore Carolyn Cohen and freshman Michelle York.  Lemberg recorded provisional qualifying marks in both the 50-yard freestyle (23.83 seconds) and the 100-yard freestyle (51.84 seconds), while Cohen picked up her pair in the 400-yard individual medley (4:36.46) and 200-yard backstroke (2:06.82 in the preliminaries).  York's two provisional times came in the 400-yard individual medley (4:25.81) and the 200-yard butterfly (2:05.44).

Adding 'B' cut times for the women were senior Rachael Mullen in the 500-yard freestyle (5:03.33), sophomore Ellen Schafer in the 50-yard freestyle (23.97 seconds), sophomore Jennifer Pak in the 200-yard freestyle (1:52.33 in the preliminaries), sophomore Kylie McKenzie (2:21.86), freshman Lexi Tutor (2:22.33) and freshman Caroline Weston (2:23.80) in the 200-yard breaststroke and junior Samantha Neumann in the 200-yard butterfly (2:07.07).

The Eagles will now await the announcement of the unofficial swimming psyche sheets for the NCAA Division III Championships, scheduled to be released on Thursday, March 1st by 5:00 PM.
