Head Coach Jon Howell's 2011-12 Emory women's swimming & diving team that won a 14th consecutive University Athletic Association championship and a third straight NCAA D-III national championship has captured both team and individual academic honors from the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA). Fifteen members of the 2011-12 Eagles earned individual academic recognition from the CSCAA.
Howell's men's swimming & diving team also captured a 14th straight league title while posting a third-place finish at nationals. Eight representatives from that squad earned individual academic laurels from the CSCAA this year.
CSCAA Team Scholar All America Award
The Team Scholar All American award is presented to college and university swimming and diving teams, who have achieved a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher. The award is presented to teams achieving this standard in the fall semester and in the semester of the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships (Winter/Spring).
The Emory men's side compiled a cumulative GPA of 3.49, 5th best in NCAA Division III and best among UAA teams, while the women's team recorded a team cumulative GPA of 3.54.
CSCAA Individual Scholar All America Award
The Scholar All American award is presented to college and university swimmers and divers, who have achieved a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher, for the semester or cumulative average, and have qualified for their respective national championship. The award is presented in the semester of the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships (Winter/Spring).
