Women's Swimming & Diving Stand Seventh Halfway Through NCAA Championships

The Emory University women's swimming & diving team moved up one spot with six All-America finishes on Thursday. Halfway through the NCAA Championships, the Eagles stand in seventh with 121 points while Denison is the team leader with 244 points.

Senior Penelope Helm held the spotlight for another evening as she reached the podium for the second consecutive night. After taking sixth in the 500 Freestyle, Helm earned bronze in the 200 Freestyle with a finals time of 1:49.35.

Joining on her the podium were both relay teams, with the Eagles placing fifth in the 200 Freestyle Relay with senior Megan Jungers and sophomores Jane Sanderson, Isabel Huang and Penny Celtnieks with a time of 1:33.54 and the 400 Medley Relay team of Jungers, Sanderson and freshman Katie Cohen and Maren McDonald touching in sixth at 3:44.33.

The Eagles also garnered points from three consolation finals appearances with Jungers finishing 16th in the 100 Fly (55.84), freshman Katherine Swan posting a 12th place effort in the 200 Freestyle (1:51.06) and sophomore Ren Watt going for 15th in the 1-meter dive with a score of 384.55.

The Eagles look to improve their overall standing on Friday with a competition slate featuring the 200 Fly, 100 Backstroke, 100 Breaststroke and the 800 Freestyle Relay.
