Annika Urban Races to All-America Honors at NCAA Championships

The Emory University women's cross country team competed at the NCAA Championships Saturday morning in Lansing, Michigan, placing 25th in the team standings with 584 points.

On a snow-covered course, senior Annika Urban paced the Eagles as she claimed All-America honors for the second straight season. Urban finished sixth overall in the field of 292 runners with a time of 22:09.2, marking the second-ever top-10 finish for an Eagle at the NCAA Championship. She also becomes the second runner in Emory women's program history to earn All-America honors twice in a career.

Juniors Helena Kummings and Lily Taylor finished in the top-200 for the Eagles with Kummings recording a 152nd-place finish at 23:49.5 and Taylor placing 182nd with time of 23:59.6.

Graduate student Claire Hu was fourth on the team with her time of 24:16.2, good for a 216th place finish. Sophomore Jenna Daly clocked in at 24:25.3 (235th) while classmate Liesl Scherrer finished 247th at 24:34.7 and freshman Luna McCauley rounded at Emory runners at the championship meet with a time of 24:41.3 for 255th place.

It is the seventh straight season and 26th time the Emory women's cross country has placed 25th overall as a team at the NCAA Championships.
